Listening, Learning...

Tonight, me and the parents listened to some of the demos, the new set.

We were talking through little bits and things I could change, not my most favourite thing, because most of it I agree with and wasn't able to change...but atleast It means I'm on the right track, in my head anyways.

My dad was saying how some of the riffs or the vocal lines resemble other songs that we previously listened to, normally this would be something i'd be afraid to hear.
But in this case it was a very big compliment, because I told him I'd set out to write this album that way.
So the songs run together, resemble and play off eachother, so when you listen to it you know its On The White Shores, and it's one big piece of art, instead of just a collection of songs.

I also told him that this album will only sound like itself, and none that follow it.

So if you connect yourself with one song, you'll be able to lose yourself in the whole album....like a place you can hide in or visit when ever you want, and each song will give you variations on one continous feeling, like a journey to a place that is what ever you make of it, as deep or as shallow as you want it to be.

I really hope it comes off the way I've wanted it to.
I'm just really proud that 2 years ago I came up with the idea, and still to this day it appears to be coming out the way I wanted it to, just more mature and refined, and hopefully better.

I'll be sending the demos to Daniel tomorrow, then we'll narrow the songs down and continue from there. It's very exciting, I'm just nervous to see which songs he picks, and to see how much we agree on and etc.

On a side note....

I'm writing the next 2 albums.
They're going to be just the same as they are different.
And I have both a clear and distorted vision of what they are going to be.
It's early I know, but atleast this way I'm ahead of the game.

Plus if I stop working I'm afraid I'll go insane......
